NOTICE OF RACE
The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) 2017- 2020 and the rules of the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association (STCR). The Organizing Authorities are Club Nautico Versilia and Società Velica Viareggina. The International Star Class Yacht Racing Association (ISCYRA). The Lega Navale Italiana, Viareggio Porto spa and Municipality of Viareggio are working in conjunction with the Organizing Authorities. The host Fleets are Viareggio Fleet, Perla della Versilia Fleet and Forte dei Marmi Fleet. The hosts club are Club Nautico Versilia and Società Velica Viareggina.
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the 2017–2020 The Racing Rules of Saling (RRS) and the rules of the International Star Class Yacht Racing Association.
1.2 Decision of the International Jury will be final in accordance with RRS 70.5.
1.3 RRS Appendix P will apply.
1.4 No national autority prescription will apply.
1.5 RRS 32 will be changed to provide that courses will not be shortened.
1.6 RRS 33b will not apply.
1.7 RRS 35 will be changed to provide that boats not finishing within 60 minutes after the first boat to finish will be scored DNF (did not finish) in that race, without a hearing.
1.8 RRS 62,2 and 66 will be changed to shorten the time for requesting tht a hearing be re-opened on the last day of racing.
1.9 RRS A4,1 will be changed to provide that the boat failling to chek in prior to the warning signal will be scored DNS (Did not start) in that race, without a hearing.
1.10 RRS A4,1 will be changed to provide that a boat failing to start within 10 minutes after the starting signal will be scored DNS ( Did not start) in that race, without a hearing.
2.1 Boats may be required to display Event Advertising on the forward part of the hull. Out of respect to our title sponsors, advertising for tobacco products is strongly discouraged.
3. Eligibility and Entry
3.1 Entries eligible in accordance with STCR 21, 26, 29 and 30 may compete. Qualifications are Log Plus Infinity.
3.2 Entries shall be submitted on the Official Online Entry Form, available on www.starclass.org, not later than May 20th 2017 via this link: http://starchampionships.org/machform/view.php?id=16879
3.3 Only skippers and crew eligible to compete under the ISAF Eligibility Code, shall be eligible to compete in this regatta.
3.4 For the purpose of RRS Appendix A Scoring: A competitor is not considered an entry until: (a) All fees are paid and (b) Measurement is completed.
The entry Fee of $450.00 USD includes boat and trailer parking, launching, hauling and invitations to social events for skipper and crew. Payment must be made at the time of registration via the online entry form.

5.3 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race of the first day is 14.00
6.1 Measurement will take place in Viareggio in the Regatta Village. Each participating boat shall have a valid Measurement Certificate, and Weight Certificate. Only boats which have completed registration, paid all entry fees, and passed the prescribed measurement check procedure by 18:00 on May 31th 2017 are entitled to race. The International Jury may order that a boat be re-checked during the regatta.
6.2 Crews shall demonstrate compliance with crew weight limits in accordance with STCR 31.1.3 prior to May 31th 2017 at 18:00. Crews may be re-weighed during the event at the discretion of the PRO in conjunction with ISCYRA.
6.3 Each boat shall show the sail number and national letters as indicated on the Official Entry Form and approved by the Measurer
6.4 Bow numbers will be assigned and given to each participating boat. They shall be affixed to the hull according to the Sailing Instructions.
7. Sailing Instructions
The Sailing Instructions will be available from may 31th 2017 09.00 at the secretary’s office of the Regatta Village.
Racing will be conducted in the Mediterranean Sea in open water off shore Viareggio in approximately 1,5 to 4 nautical miles west Viareggio, soundings 5 to 8 m, slight current depending on wind direction prevailing.
Courses will be according to STCR 34.
The Low Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A will apply, modified so that each series score will be the total of her races scores with her worst score excluded if more than four (4) races are completed. Seven (7) races are scheduled.
Boats shall be in the water in the port of Viareggio in their designated berth and area close to the Regatta Village commencing at 9:00 hours on May 31th 2017 until the conclusion of racing. Unless different provisions stated in Sailing Instructions.
12. Haul-out Restrictions
The PRO may impose haul-out restrictions.
13. Team and Private Support Boats
A yacht shall receive no outside assistance from support boats or otherwise once she has left the dock for the day until the finish of the last race of the day, except in the case of emergency and/or towing supplied by the organizer and available to all participants.
14.1 Perpetual Trophies will be awarded according to STCR 24.
14.2 Series prizes will be awarded to the first through fifth skippers and crews
14.3 Master’s trophies will be awarded to the skipper and crew finishing first through third in the Series for skippers aged 50 through 59 before the start of the first race. Competitors in the Master’s Division will also compete for Series prizes.
14.4 Grand Master’s trophies will be awarded to the skipper and crew finishing first through third in the Series for skippers aged 60 or over before the start of the first race. Competitors in the Grand Master’s Division will also compete for Series prizes.
14.5 Daily prizes will be awarded to the skipper and crew finishing first in each race.
14.6 The Mid week prize shall be the traditional perpetual Benetti Trophy which will be awarded, only this year, to the boat (skipper and crew) having the best score after completion of the first 4 races without discarding her worst score
14.7 The traditional perpetual Bandoni Trophy will be awarded, only this year to the boat, whose skipper and crew are members of Club Nautico Versilia and Società Velica Viareggina, having the best score after completion of the first 4 races without discarding her worst race
14.8 In terms of 14.6 and 14.7 the first 4 races are those effectively sailed in this sequence, regardless races abandoned, cancelled, postponed or re-sailed
The Organizing Authority shall require each competitor to sign a waiver for loss, damage or injury to persons or property occurring in conjunction with the regatta or on the property of the Organizing Authority. The Organizing Authority, their members, employees, officers and/or agents shall not be responsible for any loss, damage or injury that may occur to person or property whether ashore or at sea as a consequence of the participation of any boat.
Boats Sailing in this regatta must be adequately insured against third party liability for racing risks with a minimun cover of € 1.500.000,00
